2012Canon 7D firmware update 2.0.X
Update (7 Aug 2012): Canon has just released firmware 2.0.0 (click here for official site)
It is always a good idea to keep your camera’s firmware updated. In Sony’s NEX series, for example, updates resulted in major usability improvements. For the Nikon D800/D4, updates fixed bugs that made it past quality control. No matter what brand you own, you win by getting the latest firmware.
Now Canon 7D owners really have reason to rejoice since firmware update 2.0.X adds a lot of performance and usability improvements to what is already a very good camera. It is almost like upgrading to an even better and more expensive camera, only it’s free!
Here is a list of the most significant improvements in Firmware 2.0.X:
- Improved burst buffering for RAW (up to 25) and JPEG (up to 130)
- Manual audio levels in movie recording (64 levels)
- Customizable Maximum Auto ISO (ISO 400-6400)
- GPS compatibility with Canon’s GP-E2
- In-camera RAW image editing
- In-camera JPEG resizing
- In-camera Rating of images
- File name customization
- Time zone settings
- Faster scrolling of magnified images
- Quick control screen during playback
The link for downloading Firmware 2.0.X is not yet active, but keep checking Canon’s site – it should be available soon!

In-camera RAW editing… nice!

What a waste. I’d rather the AF is fixed. I process RAW on my computer.

I got a note 10.1 a few days ago. Camera worked fine last night but not now. Nothing dldeooawnd in the interim. I have tried restoring to factory settings which have deleted all my dldeooawnd apps. Still frustrating “warning Camera failed” message. Not very helpful and not very impressed. Anything suggest trying anything else apart from all the above?
